Governance Bodies

The Director represents the Department and promotes and coordinates its institutional activities. The Department Director may designate, from among the full-time professors affiliated with the Department, a Deputy Director who assists and substitutes for them.

The Board is the governing and policy-making body of the Department. It is responsible for defining the Department’s strategic guidelines regarding scientific and educational activities, as well as related and ancillary external activities, and for deciding on development and planning activities.

The Department Executive Committee assists the Director in exercising their functions and has jurisdiction over all matters not explicitly reserved to the Department Council by the Statute, by these regulations, and by the Department’s internal regulations. The Committee is composed of the Director, who serves as Chair, a representation of professors and researchers, a representation of students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral fellows, the representative of the administrative and technical staff, and the Department's Administrative Manager. The Vice Director of the Department also participates in the Committee's proceedings.
