The main objective of the course is to reconstruct the link between media and society, media and politics, media and culture. Particular attention will be paid to the relevance of the media in the definition of individual and collective identities, their importance in the phenomena of institutionalization and de-institutionalization and their relations with economic and political power.

Type of Assessment
The final examination consists of an oral interview in which the following will be assessed: knowledge of the course topics; the ability to make connections and comparisons between different cases and different theories; the ability to reason critically and the quality of exposition.
Course program
The first part of the course aims to provide the theoretical and conceptual knowledge of media studies, reviewing the main theories useful for defining and interpreting the changes In particular, the course will explore some important languages: those of photography, memes and television series; as tools for understanding society.
