What does communicate mean? The course examines communication as the constitutive meaning of the society and of the human behavior in the social life, which goes from details and daily interactions to complicated and institutional forms. Communication is analysed in its social, normative dimensions and of influence; in its several situations of interaction and in different social and cultural contexts. In particular, the course focuses the attention on the changes occurred by digital media.

The aim of the course is to study communication in a sociological point of view. This means to analyse and understand communication in its several meanings and peculiarities: the constitutive elements (the structure of communicative realtions), the course, functions and forms it can have in different situations and contexts (verbal and no verbal communication, systems and institution of communication)
