Course Content
The course aims at a comparative study of how the Italian Parliament is elected, and of its role within the framework of the Italian Constitution. The most relevant elements of the electoral system will be studied, followed by a study of the rules which determine how Parliament is internally organized and how it works. Main current topics will be discussed. The course will be in the form of a seminar, attendance is expected. A simulation of a legislative procedure will be conducted.

Learning Objectives
Acquire the basic knowledge of the history of Italian electoral legislation and other laws concerning parties; electoral legislation in force; history of Parliamentary standing orders. Prerequisites
The student must have passed NO LESS than ONE course in Public or Constitutional Law or Government; and ONE basic course in Political Science
Teaching Methods
Lectures, active discussions, guided debates, presentation of papers in an oral and written form. Partecipation to the legislative process simulation.

Type of Assessment
A written open questions test after two months; oral presentation; written final report. Great value will be assigned to the collective simulation.
