The course purpose is to understand how to transform the business idea into economic value through the design of new corporate and business models that highlight the value-added driven by the business strategy, with references to the development strategies and evaluation methods.

Learning Objectives

The course is organized into a theoretical and an operative part.
The theoretical part will be focused on the application of the theory of Strategic Studies applied to organizations and markets, taking the entrepreneurial tension as the preferred perspective for generating economic value measured with appropriate business valuation methods.
In the operative part, attending students will have to implement a Strategic Business Development Plan that, starting with a real enterprise will propose a diversification and / or internationalization strategy in order to develop new business models to increase business value.
The Strategic Business Development Plan should contain:
- Detailed analysis of the strategic context, the business model, the positioning of the company with particular reference to economic and financial aspects;
- A hypothesis of developing a business model through diversification and / or internationalization;
- Prospective Financial Statement (PTE) with detailed assumptions of development and construction of forecast balance sheet;
- Company assessment and calculation of the company's differential value induced by the proposed development strategy.
The Strategic Plan should be presented in the classroom and drawn up in the form of written report and delivered at least 10 days before the date of the examination that the student intend to support. As regards the business case, both the classroom presentation and the written report will be evaluated.
Non-attending students will have to develop the Strategic Plan during the examination of a real enterprise identified by the committee at the time, with the possibility of searching online for information.
Type of Assessment
ATTENDING STUDENTS:
The correct learning will be verified in three ways:
- group assessment of the strategic plan with reference both to the classroom presentation during the course and to the writing in writing of the report;
- individual oral examination for the deeper analysis of particular aspects of the strategic plan;
- written examination regarding the strategic plan.
NOT ATTENDING STUDENTS:
Oral and written test about in carrying out a strategic plan similar to that carried out by the attending students.
