The course is devoted to the presentation of the fundamental concepts of the methodology of social research, method, techniques, concepts, statements (in the first part) and of the methodological problems of empirical social research, considering the perspective of the two most important investigation strategies: the standard and non-standard (in the second part)

Learning Objectives
To achieve epistemological and technical skills to conduct a social research

Teaching Methods
Lectures, seminsars and exercises. Moodle platform.
During the second module a specific workshop on visual methodology will be held.
Type of Assessment
Oral. 3 or 4 main questions and other requests for further infomation.
Students who will attend the Visual Methodology Workshop will have to expose during the oral examination also the report on the exercise.
Course program
The first part of the course is devoted to the presentation of the fundamental concepts of the methodology of social research (method – in the epistemological debate - techniques, concepts, statements) and of the methodological problems of empirical social research, considering the perspective of the two most important investigation strategies: the quantitative and the qualitative. The second part of the course is devoted to the study of some of the research techniques as the interview with questionnaire and the depth interview, the participant observation.
