The codification processes: from the 1917 Code to the 1983 and 1990 Codes.
The source of Law in the Catholic Church.
The "Populo Dei": the faithful; the lay persons; the members of religious orders; the clerics.

Learning Objectives
The course aims to offer the students basic information on the fundamental topics of Canon Law as “religious law” and on its special aspects in regard to State laws.
Prerequisites
The course is open to all students.

In order to attend the course students shall subscribe to the Moodle Platform by the first week of lessons. The attendance of the registered students will be verified by the signatures.
Type of Assessment
Oral exam.
To pass the exam it’s necessary to be able to discuss the didactic materials; to be able to critical analyze the texts; to argue with canon law language.
Course program
The course aims to contribute to the formation of legal students’ culture through the analysis of the main features of the Canon Law. After studying the Canon Law’s history, the first part of the course will be analysing the sources system and the role of the “Law” in the Church, with a focus on the Latin Catholic Church’s Law. The second part, will focus the attention on the definition of "Populo Dei" and on the constitutional structure of the Church, both the Universal Church and the Particular Churches,
