Course Content
The course will focus on the freedom of information and communication, with particular attention to developments arising from technological innovation and the evolution of digital markets.

b) on national regulation of mass media
c) the effect of European Union law in this matter.

Ability to analyze law and jurisprudential material for the purpose of solving the main legal problems related to freedom of
information. Ability to solve legal problems starting from a correct identification of the relevant legislation.
Skills:
Ability to tackle legal problems arising from the current evolution of the communication and information technology
Prerequisites
General constitutional law", "Civil law I" and "Constitutional law (special)" shall be already taken.
Teaching Methods
Teaching through lectures, exercises and conferences. The course material will be accessible via Moodle platform.

Type of Assessment
Intermediate learning checks: attending students will be able to take an intermediate written exam that (chosen by the student) can be considered an integral part of the final evaluation.
Profit exam: for students not attending or attending students who did not take or pass the intermediate written test successfully, the final exam will focus on the entire program (see the recommended texts).
Course program
The course will focus on the public issues related to freedom of information and communication, with
particular regard to:
a) the constitutional framing of freedom of information and communication;
b) freedom of press: historical and current legislation;
c) the regulation of radio and television: current evolution and law, with particular reference to the governing bodies and the discipline of the public service;
d) the evolution of the national and European regulations on electronic communications; the regulation of electronic communications, with particular regard to the governing bodies of the sector;
